The Dangers of Disobedience: Why Obedience to God Matters

The Danger of Disobedience

Jesus’ piercing question echoes through the ages: “Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46). It’s a stark reminder that merely professing faith is not enough; obedience is required.

Consequences of Ignoring God’s Voice

The Bible is clear: there are repercussions for disregarding the Lord’s commands. In Jeremiah 19:15, God declares, “I am going to bring on this city and all the villages around it every disaster I pronounced against them, because they were stiff-necked and would not listen to my words.” The consequences of disobedience are dire.

A Call to Repentance

As we reflect on our own lives, we must ask ourselves: Are we guilty of ignoring God’s voice? Do we stubbornly resist His will, justifying our actions with excuses and rationalizations? If so, it’s time to repent.

Healing for the Stiff-Necked

Our prayer should be: “Lord, heal our stiff necks and help us focus on what You ask of us. We worship You and You alone.” May we humble ourselves before God, acknowledging our selfish attitudes and asking for His guidance.

A Time for Reflection

As we move forward, let us remember the importance of obedience. May our words and actions align with God’s will, and may we avoid the consequences of disobedience.
