When Faith Feels Distant
Have you ever felt like your faith is stuck in neutral, and you’re tempted to give up on your Christian journey? It’s a common experience, but one that God’s Word addresses directly.
The Power of Jesus’ Sacrifice
Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, we’ve been given the incredible privilege of approaching God’s throne with confidence. It’s not because we’ve earned it, but because Jesus has made it possible for us. We’re invited to draw near to God, even when we don’t feel His presence or see tangible results.
Holding On to Hope
Hebrews 10:23-25 reminds us to hold firmly to the hope we profess, because God is faithful to His promises. We’re encouraged to spur one another on towards love and good deeds, and to continue meeting together to build each other up. As we see the Day approaching, let’s not give up – instead, let’s encourage one another all the more.
Resisting Doubt and Fear
When whispers of guilt and shame try to drag us back, let’s resist them with the truth of God’s Word. We’re forgiven, and our consciences have been cleansed by Jesus’ blood. Our bodies have been washed clean with pure water, and we’re presentable to God (Hebrews 10:22). It’s a new day, full of fresh opportunities to draw near to Him with faith and confidence.
Practical Steps to Revitalize Your Faith
So, what can you do to keep your faith strong?
- Find a promise from God that resonates with you, and write it out where you’ll see it every day.
- Ask God to help you internalize that truth, like kneading flour into bread.
- Surround yourself with people who will encourage and challenge you in your walk with God.
- Take the opportunity to encourage someone else, and watch your own faith grow as a result.
A Prayer for Perseverance
Father God, I know my heart can easily stray. Help me to hold unswervingly to the hope You’ve given me. Give me the courage to seek out other believers who will help me grow my faith. Help me to be determined to draw near to You with confidence, knowing You’re always there to strengthen and guide me. Thank You for Your persistent call on my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
