A Tale of Redemption: From Drifting to Doubly Mine
In the quiet outskirts of town, a young boy’s passion for model ship building and sailing brought him immense joy. With savings from mowing lawns and walking dogs, he finally acquired a replica of the iconic Bluenose, a Nova Scotian racing schooner. After months of meticulous crafting, his masterpiece was complete, and he reveled in the admiration of onlookers as it glided across the lake. But fate had other plans. A freak storm and a malfunctioning remote control sent his prized possession drifting away, lost at sea.
The Pain of Loss and the Joy of Redemption
Weeks later, the boy’s heart skipped a beat as he spotted his beloved Bluenose in a hobby store window, up for sale. He rushed to confront the owner, explaining the boat’s true ownership. The businessman remained unmoved, demanding twenty dollars for its return. The boy’s love and determination drove him to work tirelessly, eventually scraping together the required amount. As he reclaimed his boat, he declared, “Once I created you, and you were mine. Now I have bought you, so you are doubly mine.”
A Reflection of God’s Love
This poignant tale echoes the story of humanity’s relationship with God. At some point, we strayed from His presence, whether by choice or circumstance. Yet, God yearns for our return, despite the damage we may have incurred. His love is so profound that He paid the ultimate price through Jesus’ sacrifice, making us doubly His own.
A Personal Reflection
As I reflect on my own journey, I admit to drifting away from God at times. It may have been due to complacency or poor choices, but the result was always the same – distance from my Creator. I am grateful for God’s unwavering desire to reconcile with me, and for the sacrificial love that has redeemed me. Thank you, God, for wanting me back and paying the price to own me again.
