“God’s All-Seeing Eye: A Humbling Encounter with Omniscience”

The Unseen Eyes of God

As a former Florida State Senator and practicing attorney, I’ve had my fair share of unexpected surprises. But none could compare to the day I received a call from the Capitol Police. When I saw the caller ID on my cell phone, I couldn’t help but answer. The officer on the other end, Sergeant Walker, claimed to have my driver’s license in his possession. I was skeptical, but when I checked my money clip, it was indeed missing.

A Mysterious Discovery

Sergeant Walker revealed that he was calling from a specific entrance to the capitol building, and I agreed to meet him there. As I walked down the hall, I couldn’t shake off the feeling of unease. How did they find my driver’s license, and more importantly, how did they obtain my cell phone number? The officer’s response sent chills down my spine: they had access to a vast computer database that likely knew more about me than I knew about myself.

A Spiritual Parallel

This encounter led me to reflect on the spiritual realm. Just as the Capitol Police had access to my personal information, God has complete knowledge of me – every thought, action, and intention. He knows me better than I know myself, and yet, He loves me unconditionally. This realization is both humbling and awe-inspiring.

The Omniscience of God

In Psalm 139, the author celebrates God’s perfect knowledge of humanity. God is the Creator, and as such, He has intimate knowledge of every detail of our lives. He is present everywhere, at all times, with unlimited power and wisdom. The Psalmist declares that God knows our thoughts, actions, and motivations, and that nothing can be hidden from Him.

A Word Picture

David’s words in Psalm 139 paint a vivid picture: we are naked before God, with all our innermost thoughts and desires laid bare. This image should inspire us to be mindful of our actions, words, and thoughts, for God sees and knows all. As I reflect on this encounter, I am reminded to be more careful in my daily life, knowing that God is always watching and guiding me.

A Thought on Life

As I look back on this experience, I am struck by the realization that God’s omniscience is both comforting and convicting. While it can be unsettling to consider that God knows everything about us, it is also reassuring to know that He loves us despite our flaws and shortcomings. May we strive to live lives that honor God, knowing that we are always under His watchful eye.
