Finding Peace in Uncertain Times
A Leader’s Wisdom
During World War II, Arthur Hays Sulzberger, publisher of The New York Times, struggled to sleep due to the weight of the global conflict. His constant worries kept him awake until he adopted a simple yet powerful motto: “One step enough for me.” These five words, taken from the hymn “Lead, Kindly Light,” became his guiding principle.
Trusting in God’s Guidance
God doesn’t reveal the entire roadmap of our lives. Instead, He provides a lamp to light our path, one step at a time. We don’t need to know what tomorrow holds; we only need to trust that He leads us and will provide the necessary grace when we need it (Hebrews 4:16 NLT).
Letting Go of Tomorrow’s Worries
We often try to grasp the details of our future, seeking control over the unknown. But God is sovereign, and His plans are not ours to know. When fear creeps in, rejoice in His ability to guide you. Fill your mind with thoughts of God, remembering His promise: “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you” (Psalm 32:8 NLT).
Embracing God’s Sovereignty
In times of uncertainty, we can find comfort in God’s guidance. Rather than worrying about the future, focus on the present moment. Trust that He is leading you, and rejoice in His sovereignty. As Max Lucado reminds us, “We will find grace to help us when we need it.” So, take a deep breath, and let God guide you one step at a time.
