Breaking Down Barriers in Evangelism
As believers, we’ve all been there – trying to share the Good News with others, only to be met with confusion and misunderstanding. Phrases like “Washed in the Blood of the Lamb” and “dying to self” may hold deep significance for us, but they can be lost in translation for those outside the faith.
The Disciples’ Struggle
Even the disciples, who walked alongside Jesus for three years, struggled to grasp His message at first. It wasn’t until Pentecost, when they received the Holy Spirit, that things became crystal clear. Suddenly, they could speak in a language that resonated with others, and the truth of Jesus’ teachings began to sink in.
A Lesson from the Past
As we reflect on our own journeys, we remember the moment when the Holy Spirit touched our hearts and minds, illuminating the truth of God’s Word. It’s easy to forget that others may not yet have had this experience. When sharing our faith with non-believers, let’s recall the disciples’ journey and ask the Holy Spirit to guide us.
Seeking Divine Guidance
Before engaging with others, take a moment to pray: “Lord, send Your Spirit to interpret for us the faith, the way, and the Truth that is so dear to our souls.” Ask for the words to speak and for the listener to receive spiritual ears to understand. Even if the message isn’t immediately clear, trust that God is at work.
The Power of Surrender
As we strive to spread the Good News, let’s surrender our thoughts, actions, and tongues to God’s guidance. May His message become clear through us, and may we be willing to leave the rest to Him. By doing so, we can confidently share our faith, knowing that the Holy Spirit is working through us to bring others to the truth.
Embracing the Holy Spirit’s Guidance
In the end, it’s not about us or our ability to communicate effectively; it’s about yielding to the Holy Spirit’s power and wisdom. As we do, we’ll find that the barriers to evangelism begin to break down, and the Good News becomes more accessible to those around us.
