Unwrapping the Secret to a Joyful Christmas: Focusing on Jesus

Finding Joy in the Midst of Chaos

As we navigate the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it’s easy to get caught up in the chaos. Flights are delayed, crowds are overwhelming, and expectations are high. But in the midst of it all, there is a secret to finding joy and peace.

A Heart that Rejoices

Brennan Manning shares a powerful story about a woman he met at an airport, cradling a child in her arms and laughing despite the chaos around her. When asked about her joy, she simply said, “Christmas is coming, and dat baby Jesus—He make me laugh.” Her heart was filled with joy because she had set her focus on Jesus.

The Key to a Merry Christmas

According to Psalm 16:8-9, focusing on Jesus at all times is the key to a happy and joyful heart. As we enter the Christmas season, our lives become even busier. But what if we made a conscious effort to “set the Lord before us” every day? What if we talked to Him throughout the day, bringing Him into every activity? He would fill us with joy and laughter.

The Greatest Gift

This Christmas, there is no greater gift you could give yourself than to receive the One who came to earth for us. Jesus offers complete forgiveness, a relationship with Him, a more abundant life, and eternal life. But we must be willing to empty our hands of our own efforts and receive His gift.

A Life-Changing Decision

If you’re ready to receive Jesus into your life, I invite you to take a moment to pray. You could say, “Jesus, thank you for dying for my sins. Right now, I open the door and ask you to come into my life. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me an eternal relationship with you.” This decision will change your life forever.

Getting to Know Him

As you begin your journey with Jesus, I encourage you to read the Gospel of John, which is the fourth book of the New Testament in the Bible. You’ll be amazed at how He speaks directly to your heart. Additionally, finding a church where the Bible is taught can be incredibly helpful.

A Christmas to Remember

This Christmas, don’t get caught up in the expectations of having the “perfect” holiday. Instead, focus on receiving Jesus’ gift to you—a relationship with Him. Knowing Him brings great meaning and enjoyment, no matter what the season brings.
