Embracing the Unwavering Goodness of God
As you quiet your heart and listen to the whispers of your Heavenly Father, you’ll discover the profound truth of Galatians 5:22-23,25: “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control… Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” This promise is reinforced in Exodus 33:19, where God declares, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence.”
The Nature of God’s Goodness
God’s goodness is an integral part of His character, forever linked to His name and presence. Psalm 35:8 and 34:8 invite you to experience His goodness firsthand, while Psalm 52:9 celebrates the goodness of His name. Every aspect of His creation and redemption is a reflection of His goodness, which flows from His very being (Psalm 65:4).
The Blessings of God’s Goodness
As you bask in the radiance of God’s goodness, you’ll discover the depths of His mercy, forgiveness, and compassion. Nehemiah 1:7 reminds us that His enduring goodness showers us with covenant blessings. Because He is good, He welcomes us with open arms, just like the prodigal son’s father, and desires the best for us. His generosity knows no bounds, and He takes pleasure in blessing us.
The Unwavering Nature of God’s Goodness
God’s goodness is constant, never faltering or wavering (James 3:17). When we receive His goodness, we receive a part of Himself. Even in times of testing and refinement, His goodness remains steadfast, always seeking to display His tender heart and quick sympathy.
Celebrating God’s Goodness
Jeremiah 33:11 encourages us to express our gratitude for God’s goodness with thanksgiving. Let us be specific in our praise, acknowledging His goodness in the everyday moments: a breathtaking sunset, a kind stranger’s smile, or a child’s loving hug. As we celebrate His goodness, we’re reminded of the parable of the Good Samaritan, where God’s pity and nobility of character shine brightly.
Embodying God’s Goodness
Just as Jesus went about doing good, we too can be vessels of His goodness, binding up the wounds of others and ministering to their hurts. May we be blessed with the virtue of Jesus’ goodness, energized by His kindness and zeal for doing good. May our lives reflect the fruit of God’s goodness, produced by the Holy Spirit within us (Galatians 5:22).
