Trusting God, Not Ourselves: The Power of Faith

Trusting in God’s Power, Not Our Own

Faith is the foundation of our relationship with God. As Hebrews 11:6 reminds us, “You can never please God without faith, without depending on Him. Anyone who wants to come to God must believe that there is a God and that He rewards those who sincerely look for Him.” This verse highlights the importance of trusting in God’s power, rather than our own efforts.

The Dangers of Self-Reliance

I once knew a dedicated individual who lived by a strict routine, meticulously recording every aspect of his life in a little black book. He planned out his daily devotions, Scripture memorization, and even his evangelism efforts. While I was impressed by his dedication, he eventually suffered a mental breakdown. After his recovery, he revealed that he had been trying to live the Christian life through his own self-efforts, rather than trusting in God. He realized that his rigid spiritual disciplines had become an idol, and he was exhausted from trying to live up to his own standards.

The Freedom of Faith

This man’s experience taught me a valuable lesson: I will never be able to live the Christian life through my own strength. My only hope for victory, power, and fruitfulness is to trust Christ to live His resurrection life in and through me. It is faith, not effort, that pleases God. While faith without works is dead, genuine faith always produces action – good works that please and glorify Him.

Claiming Christ’s Resurrection Life

Today, I choose to claim Christ’s resurrection life, trusting in His power to live a supernatural life. Because He is holy, I claim His power to live a life that honors Him. As He came to seek and save the lost, I claim by faith His ability to seek and save those around me.
