Stepping into the Unknown
As three friends, all retired teachers, embarked on an educational project to a remote corner of the world, they were met with a flurry of questions. Their dream adventure, inspired by the pages of National Geographic, was suddenly overshadowed by concerns about water purity, travel safety, and the risk of illness. The people, the politics – everything seemed uncertain.
The Comfort of Uncertainty
While some questions could be answered with facts and figures, others lingered in a grey area, shrouded in doubt. It’s a feeling familiar to many Christians, whether facing a mission trip, a new job, or a major life change. In these moments, we’re reminded that our trust must ultimately rest in the promise that “where God leads, God provides.”
A Promise of Presence
Jesus’ words to his disciples, sent on a daring adventure, still resonate today: “The Lord…sent them…ahead of him to every town and place where he was to go.” As we follow God’s call into life’s uncertain territories, we can be sure that Jesus is intimately involved. Sometimes he goes ahead, guiding us through the unknown. Sometimes he walks alongside us, offering comfort and reassurance. And sometimes, his plan is to follow in our footsteps, using our experiences to shape us into stronger, wiser disciples.
A Prayer of Trust
Father, I confess that when I can’t see your physical presence, I sometimes doubt your actual presence. Thank you for the promise that you will never leave me nor forsake me. May this truth anchor my heart, even in the darkest corners of life.
In the end, it’s not about the unknowns or the uncertainties. It’s about the promise of God’s presence, guiding us every step of the way.
