Trusting God with Our Deepest Desires
As we navigate the complexities of life, we often find ourselves struggling to surrender our deepest desires to God. It’s easy to trust Him with the small things, but when it comes to the things that matter most to us, we can become hesitant.
A Personal Struggle
I remember sitting in my university dorm room, grappling with the idea of releasing a relationship to God. It was a desire that I held close to my heart, and the thought of letting go was daunting. But as I read through Matthew 9:7-11, a passage struck a chord within me: “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”
The Power of Imperfect Human Love
As I reflected on this passage, I thought about my own father, an imperfect man with many flaws. Despite his shortcomings, I knew that he would do everything in his power to help me if I needed it. And in that moment, I realized that God’s love was infinitely greater. He is perfect in His love and goodness, and His wisdom truly desires our best.
The Ultimate Proof of Love
The proof of God’s love is not just a feeling, but a tangible reality. He demonstrated His love for us by sending Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. This act of sacrifice is the ultimate expression of His perfect love.
A Leap of Faith
As I struggled to trust God with this relationship, I came to a realization: I could trust Him with my deepest desires. Even if things didn’t turn out as I had hoped, I knew that God would provide the best future for me. It wasn’t always easy, and doubts would creep in from time to time. But I had to reaffirm my trust in Him, moment by moment.
A New Chapter
As it turned out, God had different plans for me. He provided a new love relationship, and we’re now celebrating 40 years together. It’s a testament to the fact that God’s plans are always better than our own.
A Call to Surrender
Is there an area of your life where you’re struggling to surrender to God? Do you believe that He is 100% good, loving, and has your best interests at heart? Remember, surrender is a daily discipline. It requires us to trust Him, moment by moment, with our deepest desires.
A Prayer of Trust
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your perfect love. Thank you for demonstrating that love through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. I trust you to guide me and provide the best plan for every area of my life. Amen.
