When Fatigue Meets Faith
As I stepped off the plane in Portland, Oregon, my body screamed for mercy. A grueling transcontinental flight from Los Angeles to New York, followed by a meeting with a major television network’s president, and then another cross-country flight back to Portland had taken its toll. I was set to speak to a conference of hundreds of pastors in just 30 minutes, but my exhaustion was palpable.
A Desperate Cry for Help
As I waited for my luggage, I felt as spiritually drained as a withered plant. That’s when I sensed an urging to pray, “Lord, do You have a message for me?” In response, I felt led to turn to Isaiah 40. The familiar words jumped off the page, filling me with newfound inspiration and energy. My fatigue began to lift, replaced by an extraordinary sense of strength and power.
Renewed Strength in Times of Need
Isaiah 40:30-31 reminds us that even in our weakest moments, God’s power can revitalize us: “Even the youths shall be exhausted, and the young men will all give up. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” In that instant, I felt like I could have tackled the world.
Empowered to Proclaim
Within a short time, I stood before the pastors, proclaiming God’s wonder, majesty, glory, and power. God had anointed me for that moment, filling me with an unusual and marvelous sense of purpose.
Today’s Action Point
When faced with exhaustion and fatigue, remember Psalm 71:16a (KJV): “I will go in the strength of the Lord God.” Repeat this declaration throughout the day, claiming God’s supernatural strength for your every physical and spiritual need. Trust that His power will revitalize and empower you to accomplish His will.
