Basking in God’s Majesty: A Journey of Awe and Gratitude

Basking in the Majesty of God

As I reflect on the beauty of God’s creation, I am reminded of the Psalmist’s words: “Great are the works of the LORD, studied by all who delight in them. Full of honor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever.” (Psalm 111:2-3)

A Life of Service

For 28 years, my husband and I dedicated our lives to serving the Lord through a large Christian organization. With four children, ailing parents, and a farm to manage, our time was scarce. I often found myself praying, “Lord, I wish I had more time to enjoy You and Your majestic creation.” Little did I know, God had a plan to answer my prayer in His perfect timing.

A Season of Reflection

Now, as I enter a season of semi-retirement, I am blessed with the gift of time to revel in God’s glory. I find joy in the simple things: the vibrant flowers in my yard, the birds singing at the feeder, the lush green pastures, and the rolling hills teeming with life. The majesty of the snow-capped mountains leaves me in awe, and the perfection of our newborn great-grandchildren humbles me.

Expressing the Inexpressible

As I attempt to put into words the awe I feel towards God and His creation, I am reminded of a beautiful song written by Mark Altrogge. The lyrics capture my emotions so eloquently:

“You are beautiful beyond description,
Too marvelous for words,
Too wonderful for comprehension,
Like nothing ever seen or heard.
Who can grasp your infinite wisdom,
Who can fathom the depth of your love?
You are beautiful beyond description,
Majesty enthroned above.
And I stand, I stand in awe of you.
I stand, I stand in awe of you.
Holy God to whom all praise is due,
I stand in awe of you.”

A Heart of Gratitude

As I reflect on God’s goodness, I am filled with gratitude for the blessings He has bestowed upon me and my family. I am thankful for the opportunity to slow down and appreciate the beauty of His creation.

A Prayer of Adoration

Father, I adore you and thank you for all the blessings you shower upon us, your beloved children. Amen.
