Freedom from Guilt and Shame
A young woman, burdened by the weight of her guilt and sin, recently sought my counsel. Her distress was palpable, and she couldn’t bring herself to meet my gaze. Throughout our conversation, she remained overcome with conviction, her eyes cast downward. I gently asked her a series of questions: “Do you believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God?” She nodded in affirmation. “Do you believe He died on the cross for your sins?” Again, she responded positively. “Would you like to invite Him into your life, asking Him to cleanse you with His precious blood, shed on the cross for your sins, and make you a new creation in Christ?”
A New Beginning
Together, we knelt in prayer, and through her tears, she surrendered to Christ, acknowledging the wickedness and filth of her past. She confessed to God her disobedience to her parents, whose hearts had been broken by her actions. As we prayed, it became clear that God had touched her, forgiving and cleansing her. The sobbing subsided, replaced by an unmistakable sense of peace. The Holy Spirit within me bore witness that she had indeed become a new creation in Christ.
Radiant Joy
As we stood up, her eyes still shone with tears, but her face radiated joy. She now grasped the reality of God’s promise: Jesus had taken the burden of her sins upon Himself, and she was cleansed. Through His wounds, He had healed her, enabling her to live a life that glorified God. Who but Jesus could perform such a miracle?
A Life of Purpose
It’s no wonder that those who know Him in this way are compelled, like the apostle Paul, to share the Good News with everyone. Jesus alone can forgive our sin and liberate us from the darkness of Satan’s kingdom. Today, take a moment to reflect on the significance of Jesus’ sacrifice.
