A Sense of Urgency: Living with Purpose
As I reflect on my life, I’ve come to realize that a growing sense of urgency has taken hold of my heart. It’s not just about understanding the world around me or taking care of my personal affairs; it’s a deep-seated feeling that time is of the essence.
Embracing the Weight of Responsibility
At first, this sense of urgency manifested as anxiety, but a wise friend’s words brought me back to reality. The disciples, too, lived with the understanding that the end was near, and it was this urgency that drove them to write the New Testament. Christ’s imminent return was their motivation, and it’s a mindset we’d do well to adopt.
Living with Intention
Rather than letting fear grip our hearts, we should recognize that every day brings us closer to Christ’s return, but it also presents an opportunity to give, love, and work towards establishing God’s Kingdom on earth. The fields are ripe for harvest, and as Isaiah 61 reminds us, “This is the year of the Lord’s favor.” We must make the most of today.
Seizing the Day
So, I ask myself: How am I living with an understanding of the urgency of the day? How will I seize this day to make a difference? I encourage you to do the same. Let’s not waste another moment; instead, let’s live with intention, purpose, and a sense of urgency that drives us to make a positive impact in the world.
Reflection Time
Take a moment to reflect on your life and ask yourself:
- How are you living from an understanding of the urgency of the day?
- How will you seize this day to make a difference?
By embracing this sense of urgency, we can live lives that honor God and bring hope to those around us.
