The Pursuit of Justice: A Higher Calling
Deep within our souls, a fire burns for justice to prevail. We yearn to see evil held accountable and good rewarded. Yet, our world often celebrates vice and punishes virtue, leaving truth stumbling and justice faltering (Isaiah 59:14).
The Ultimate Injustice
Jesus, the epitome of innocence, suffered the ultimate injustice. Wrongly accused, He chose not to retaliate or make threats. Instead, He entrusted Himself to the One who judges justly (1 Peter 2:23). This profound act of trust in the face of adversity sets a powerful example for believers.
Entrusting Ourselves to God
When injustice strikes, particularly due to our faith in Jesus, Peter urges us to follow Jesus’ lead. We must commit ourselves to our faithful Creator, continuing to do good despite the unjust treatment (1 Peter 4:19). By relying on God’s faithfulness, goodness, and justice, we can persevere in doing what is right, even when the world around us seems to have lost its way.
Trusting in God’s Care
In a world where evil often appears to triumph, it’s essential to remember that God is our faithful Creator, who judges justly. When we put ourselves in His hands, we can trust Him to care for us, regardless of what others say or do. As we submit to His will, we can find the strength to act as Jesus did, even in the face of adversity.
A Prayer for Strength
Heavenly Father, it’s hard to resist the urge to defend myself when treated unjustly. Demonstrate your power in my life by giving me the strength to entrust myself to you, just as Jesus did. I submit myself to you. Amen.
