Finding Purpose in Pain
As believers, we’re often reminded that God is faithful to complete the good work He began in us (Philippians 1:6, NLT). But when faced with excruciating pain and suffering, it’s easy to lose sight of His purpose for our lives.
A Pain-Filled Reality
Gracie Rosenberger’s life was forever changed after a devastating car accident in 1983, resulting in the amputation of both her legs. In the midst of her suffering, her husband Peter tried to offer comfort, but Gracie yearned for something more. She needed to be reminded that God had a purpose for her life, even in her broken and pain-ridden body.
A Heartfelt Plea
Gracie’s poignant response to Peter still resonates deeply: “I know I’ll have a pain-free body in Heaven one day. But today, right now, I need to hear that God has purpose and meaning for me, even in my pain-filled, broken body.” Her words echo the cry of many who have been ravaged by pain and suffering.
A Promise of Purpose
If you’ve surrendered your heart to Jesus, take comfort in the promise that God has a plan for your life, one that is purposed, planned, loved, and guided (Jeremiah 29:11). Even in the darkest valleys, God is present, working to bring about good from our struggles (Romans 8:28).
Living by Faith
As we navigate this life, we’re called to live by faith, trusting God each day to carry us through our trials. It’s a daily choice to surrender our doubts and fears, embracing the promise that He who began a good work in us is faithful to complete it.
Remembering God’s Faithfulness
Let Gracie’s story be a reminder that God is faithful to complete the good work He began in you. Even in the midst of pain and suffering, He has a purpose for your life, one that is filled with meaning and significance. Hold fast to His promise, and trust that He will carry you through the darkest of times.
