In today’s society, we’re witnessing a jarring phenomenon: right has become wrong, and vice versa. This moral upheaval makes it challenging to maintain our focus on God amidst the chaos. The world demands political correctness, while the Bible emphasizes moral correctness. This cultural turmoil is merely a symptom of a deeper, spiritual struggle.
A Clash of Worldviews
The 1980s TV show hosted by Carl Sagan, a prominent atheist, was a massive hit. His mantra, “The cosmos is all that is, or ever was, or ever will be,” reflects a starkly contrasting perspective to that of John Calvin, who believed, “The cosmos is God’s theater to show His glory.” The Creator of the universe has provided us with a blueprint for moral and spiritual living – the scriptures.
The Power of the Cross
According to scripture, the message of the cross appears foolish to those trapped in sin. However, for those who have been saved from sin’s punishment, it is the very power of God. We’re engaged in a daily, intense battle that’s both inner and spiritual before it manifests outwardly and culturally.
Victory is Assured
Although the fight is real, I’ve read the final chapter of the Book, and I know who will ultimately emerge victorious. As I navigate this treacherous landscape, I pray: “Lord, empower me with Your Word to fight the good fight against the sin that creeps into my life. Without Your guidance and the presence of Your Spirit, I am helpless. Help me rely on You daily.”
