Embracing Our Spiritual Gifts
Breaking Free from Inadequacy
Feeling inadequate is a common excuse for avoiding ministry and service, but it’s not a valid reason to shy away from fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives. When we evade the Father’s call, we risk hindering His work on earth, forfeiting the blessings that come from obedience, and missing out on eternal rewards in heaven.
The Helper We Need
Jesus Christ, who understood human frailty, promised His followers a Helper – the Holy Spirit – who would reside in them forever (John 14:16). This divine enablement empowers, energizes, and equips believers to serve the Lord. One way the Spirit assists us is by bestowing spiritual gifts, unique capabilities bestowed upon believers.
Unpacking Our Spiritual Gifts
Our heavenly Father has a specific ministry in mind for each of His followers. To facilitate this, He has carefully selected the necessary spiritual “equipment” – our gifts – which were planned before our birth. It’s His desire that we embrace our gift, combining it with others’ gifts to serve Him wholeheartedly as the body of Christ. Even the smallest contribution plays a vital role in the Great Commission and strengthens Jesus Christ’s body, the church.
God’s Plan for Every Believer
The Lord has a tailor-made plan for each believer. To ensure we meet His expectations, He first instills natural talents within us. At salvation, He adds a spiritual gift. Then, the heavenly Father opens doors of opportunity, and the Holy Spirit manifests His power, enabling us to fulfill the work set before us.
Unlocking Our Potential
By recognizing and embracing our spiritual gifts, we can break free from feelings of inadequacy and fulfill our role in God’s grand plan. As we surrender to His will, we’ll discover that even the smallest acts of service contribute significantly to the advancement of His kingdom.
