United in the Face of Adversity
As we navigate these uncertain times, it’s essential to recognize that fear can be a powerful foe. While the acronym FEAR may stand for False Evidence Appearing Real, the reality of our current situation is undeniable. Instead, I propose an alternative: FEAR can also mean Facing Evil Alone Repeatedly.
The Dangers of Isolation
As we take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, it’s crucial that we don’t surrender to fear and isolation. Initially, the idea of having time to ourselves may seem appealing – an opportunity to catch up on reading, watch our favorite shows, or pursue hobbies. However, retreating into our own fears can have devastating consequences.
The Power of Unity
An ancient adage reminds us that the devil divides, but God unites. Even if we cannot physically attend church or gather with others, technology provides us with an array of tools to stay connected. We can call, text, email, or video conference with friends, family, and the elderly, ensuring that no one feels alone or forgotten.
The Importance of Community
In Hebrews 10:25, we’re reminded of the significance of community: “Do not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” This verse serves as a poignant reminder that even in the face of adversity, we must prioritize connection and support.
Random Acts of Kindness
Performing random acts of kindness can have a profound impact on those around us. By extending a helping hand or offering a listening ear, we can bring hope and comfort to those who need it most.
Staying Connected
Just because we cannot physically touch each other doesn’t mean we can’t stay in touch. By leveraging technology and our collective humanity, we can foster a sense of community and support that transcends physical distance. As we navigate these challenging times, let us choose to face evil together, rather than alone.
