The Power of Remembering God’s Faithfulness
As I drove my daughter Andrea to school one morning, she sensed my anxiety and asked what was wrong. I confided in her about my looming book deadline, and she innocently asked if I had written other books before. When I replied that I had written fifteen, she posed another question: “Have you ever missed a deadline?” My answer was no. Her next words stopped me in my tracks: “So, doesn’t that mean God helped you fifteen times already?”
A Child’s Wisdom
Andrea’s reasoning was simple yet profound. If God had helped me meet my deadlines fifteen times before, why wouldn’t He do it again? Her words echoed those of her mother, and I couldn’t help but wince at the truth. It was a timely reminder that our greatest weapon against Satan’s attacks is our memory of God’s faithfulness.
The Blessings We Forget
How often do we forget the countless ways God has blessed us? We let anxiety and doubt creep in, instead of recalling His goodness and provision. As 1 Corinthians 6:20 reminds us, “You have been bought with a price. You belong to God.” God’s message for us is one of hope and reassurance.
Holding On to Testimony
When we remember God’s faithfulness, we testify to His power and love. Satan may try to deceive us, but our testimony is a powerful counterattack. By holding on to the blessings we’ve received, we declare our trust in God’s sovereignty. As we reflect on His goodness, we’re reminded that He is always with us, guiding us through life’s challenges.
A Lesson in Trust
Andrea’s words that day taught me a valuable lesson. When we focus on God’s faithfulness, we’re able to trust Him more deeply. We’re reminded that He is our Rock, our Refuge, and our Savior. By recalling His blessings, we’re empowered to face the future with confidence, knowing that God is always working for our good.
