Finding Solid Ground in Uncertain Times
As we navigate the challenges of 2020, it’s easy to feel like the rug has been pulled out from under us. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented uncertainty, and many of us are struggling to find our footing. It’s natural to wonder: is there a place of stability where we can find peace?
Trusting in God’s Plan
There are times when life’s circumstances seem too much to bear. We may cry out to God, asking Him to remove the obstacles in our path. But what if we could trust that He has a purpose for those trials? What if we could believe that He is working everything together for our good?
Rest in God’s Unfailing Love
The apostle Paul knew a thing or two about trials. In his darkest moments, he pleaded with God to remove the thorns in his flesh. But God’s response was not what Paul expected. Instead of removing the problems, God reminded Paul that His divine power was all he needed. Today, I want to speak peace to your weary soul. I want to remind you that God’s love is unfailing, and He is always working on your behalf.
Ceasing Striving
In these moments of transition, it’s easy to get caught up in anxious striving. We try to figure everything out, to control the uncontrollable. But what if we could cease striving and simply rest in God’s love? What if we could ask Him to broaden our perspective, to help us see our situation through His eyes?
Taking Comfort in God’s Rest
As we take a step back and invite God into our struggles, we can take comfort in the rest He has already provided. We can be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10). When everything around us is shaking, He is the firm foundation. He knows how to steady us and establish our footing on solid ground.
A Prayer for Rest
Father, teach me to rest in your unfailing love. I admit I get lost trying to find my way through life’s ups and downs. I don’t always know where to go or what to think. But you do. May I take comfort in knowing that your purposes for me will be fulfilled. There is nothing that I will encounter that can separate me from your love. Thank you, Father. In Jesus’s name, amen.
