True Worship: Surrendering Your Life to God

Embracing the True Meaning of Worship

When we think of worship, we often associate it with singing hymns or playing musical instruments on Sundays. However, the Bible paints a much broader picture of what it means to truly worship God.

A Life of Surrender

The apostle Peter reminds us that worshiping Christ as Lord of our lives is not just about feeling good or enjoying uplifting music. Rather, it’s about surrendering every aspect of our lives to Him. It’s about being willing to suffer for doing what is right, even if it means facing ridicule or persecution. As Peter so eloquently puts it, “Now, who will want to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it.”

Turning from Evil to Good

Worshiping Christ as Lord requires us to turn away from evil and towards good. It means being prepared to give an answer for the hope that we have, and keeping a clear conscience. As we surrender our lives to God, we must be willing to let go of our old ways and adopt a new mindset that honors Him.

The Standard of Good

God is the standard of good, and He is the One we worship, adore, and please. He is our King, and we must recognize His authority over every area of our lives. When we worship Him as Lord, we acknowledge His sovereignty and submit to His will.

A Call to Action

So, are you willing to suffer for doing good and to worship Christ as the Lord of your life? Are you prepared to surrender every aspect of your life to Him, even if it means facing challenges and difficulties? As we reflect on Peter’s words, let us ask ourselves: am I truly worshiping Christ as Lord, or am I just going through the motions?

A Prayer of Surrender

Father God, your calling is clear – worship Christ as Lord of my life. I bow before you once again and declare that you are my Lord. Lord, help me turn from what is evil and do good today. Search me O God, that my conscience may be clear. I choose to worship you as my God and King. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
