The Power of Surrender
As I reflect on the words of Psalm 40:5, I am reminded of the countless wonders that God has performed in my life. His thoughts towards me are too numerous to count, and His love is beyond comprehension. Yet, in the midst of His greatness, I often find myself struggling to surrender my own desires and emotions to Him.
A Cry for Help
Recently, I woke up with a simple yet profound phrase echoing in my mind: “More of You, Lord, less of me.” It was as if God was whispering to me, urging me to let go of my own strength and lean on His. The timing was no coincidence, as I had been grappling with feelings of frustration and anxiety the night before. Emotions that I had buried months ago were resurfacing, and I knew I had to confront them head-on.
The Struggle is Real
As I navigated the day, those seven words became my constant prayer. I knew that I couldn’t deal with my emotions on my own, but God could. When I struggled to forgive, I whispered, “More of You, Lord, less of me.” When uncertainty loomed, and I didn’t know which path to take, I prayed, “More of You, Lord, less of me.” In every situation, I needed to surrender my will to His.
The Freedom of Surrender
So often, I try to tackle life’s challenges on my own, forgetting that I need more of God and less of myself. But the truth is, surrendering to Him brings freedom. It’s not about erasing my emotions or difficulties, but about acknowledging that He is the one who can truly transform me.
A Daily Choice
As I look back on that day, I realize that those seven words are not just a one-time prayer, but a daily choice. A choice to let go of my own strength and lean on God’s. A choice to trust that He has my best interests at heart, even when I don’t understand. A choice to surrender my will to His, no matter what the circumstances may be.
