Unleashing the Power of a Radiant Face
As followers of Christ, we often forget that our facial expressions can be a powerful witness to those around us. The Bible reminds us that “those who are wise – the people of God – shall shine as brightly as the sun’s brilliance” (Daniel 12:3). But do we truly reflect this brilliance in our daily lives?
The Inconsistency of a Glum Expression
Consider the irony of professing to have the Son of God dwelling within us, yet walking around with a gloomy face. Proverbs 15:13 tells us that a happy face is a reflection of a glad heart, while a sad face reveals a breaking heart. As believers, we should be beacons of joy and hope in a world filled with darkness.
A Life-Changing Encounter
Missionary Adoniram Judson’s visit to Stonington, Connecticut, many years ago, is a powerful example of the impact a radiant face can have. A young boy, struck by Judson’s luminous countenance, was drawn to him and eventually became the famous preacher, Henry Clay Trumbull. This encounter highlights the transformative power of a face that shines with the love and joy of Jesus Christ.
The Secret to a Shining Face
Just as flowers thrive when they bend towards the sun, our faces radiate with joy when we focus our gaze on the Lord Jesus Christ. Time spent with God, basking in His love and wisdom, is the key to unlocking a face that shines like the sun. May we never underestimate the influence of a glowing face that stems from a deep connection with our Creator.
Becoming Salt and Light
In Matthew 5:13-16, Jesus reminds us that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. We are called to let our light shine before others, that they may see our good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven. As we spend time with God, our faces become a reflection of His love, illuminating the world around us.
A Daily Commitment
Let us make a conscious decision to spend sufficient time with the Lord each day, ensuring a radiant countenance that brings glory to God and inspires those around us. As we do so, we will become beacons of hope, shining brightly in a world that desperately needs the light of Christ.
