Faithful Shepherds in Uncertain Times
As we navigate the uncharted waters of social distancing and shelter-at-home orders, our church leaders have been faced with an unprecedented challenge: how to continue caring for their flock when traditional means of gathering and worship are no longer possible.
A Nursing Mother’s Care
The apostle Paul’s words in 1 Thessalonians 2:7-8 come to mind: “But we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother taking care of her own children. So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.” These verses beautifully illustrate the heart of a true shepherd – one who is willing to go to great lengths to care for and nurture those entrusted to their care.
A Season of Adaptation
In recent weeks, our church’s pastors and staff have risen to the challenge, finding innovative ways to continue ministering to their congregation despite the obstacles. From scrambling to set up online worship services to creatively reimagining small groups, they have demonstrated remarkable resilience and dedication. As a result, we have been able to stay connected, encouraged, and fed spiritually, even in the midst of uncertainty.
Gratitude for Faithful Leaders
I am deeply grateful for these selfless individuals who have given so much to care for us. They are the unsung heroes of our faith community, working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that the Body of Christ remains connected and vibrant. Will you join me in thanking God for these “care-givers” who refuse to let the Word be silenced, even in the most trying times?
A Prayer of Appreciation
Lord, I am grateful for our amazing shepherds who have found such unique ways of caring for and feeding your flock. I am so blessed to have these faithful people in my life. Please continue to bless and strengthen your church through this stressful time. Amen.
Unity in the Face of Adversity
As we move forward, may we be inspired by the example of our faithful leaders to “make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” Let us commit to serving the Lord wholeheartedly, doing what we can to support one another and uphold the unity of our faith community.
