Finding Strength in Uncertain Times
Life is full of unexpected challenges. A demanding boss, disagreeable family members, and financial struggles can weigh heavily on our minds and hearts. But amidst these difficulties, it’s essential to remember that nothing can touch us without God’s permission.
The Unlikely Victory of Joshua’s Army
Consider the story of Joshua’s army as they prepared to conquer Jericho. The city was heavily fortified, and God’s instructions to march around it seemed unusual, to say the least. Yet, Joshua trusted in God’s power and obeyed His commands. Even before the battle began, God had already been at work, instilling fear into the hearts of the region’s kings (Joshua 2:8-14). Despite the odds, Joshua’s army triumphed, demonstrating that God’s plans often defy human understanding.
God Goes Before Us
When we face obstacles, it’s natural to wonder if God will intervene on our behalf. But as Joshua’s story illustrates, God has already gone before us, preparing the way for our triumph. His solutions may not always align with our expectations, but they are always in our best interest.
Finding Confidence in God
In the midst of pain and heartache, it’s tempting to doubt God’s presence. However, it’s during these moments that we must draw closer to Him. The time we spend alone with God is crucial, for it’s in His presence that we find encouragement, love, and guidance.
A Reminder of God’s Power
The story of Jericho serves as a powerful reminder of God’s authority and might. As Joshua 6:1-5 recounts, God instructed Joshua to march around the city, accompanied by seven priests carrying trumpets of rams’ horns. On the seventh day, the walls of Jericho came tumbling down, and the city was conquered. This miraculous event demonstrates that God is bigger than any problem we may face.
Trusting in God’s Sovereignty
As we navigate life’s challenges, let us remember that God is our Shepherd, guiding and protecting us every step of the way. He never changes, and His love for us remains constant. In the face of uncertainty, we can find strength in knowing that God is always in control.
