Navigating Life’s Crossroads: Trusting God’s Guidance
As a university professor, I’ve had the privilege of guiding students through the often-perilous waters of career choices and graduate school applications. One of the most crucial aspects of this role is helping them decipher the signs and signals that point to their future path.
The Art of Discernment
Sometimes, the feedback from organizations or schools can be confusing, to say the least. I’ve seen students receive a resounding “yes” from one institution, complete with a scholarship and an invitation to visit, while another school responds with a lukewarm “wait and see” or even a flat-out rejection. In such situations, it’s essential to recognize God’s hand at work, guiding us towards the right decision.
God’s Plans for Us
As Jeremiah reminds us, God has plans for our lives, plans that are meant to prosper us. However, we often second-guess His clear signs, seeking more options or demanding alternative answers. It’s crucial to remember that God’s “no” means “no,” and His “yes” means “yes.” By paying attention to these signs, we can confidently step through the doors He opens for us.
A Prayer for Clarity
Dear God, help me to pay attention to the clear signs you provide regarding my future. Help me to see your “no” as “no” and your “yes” as “yes,” that I may enter the doors you open for me. Amen.
Reflecting on Our Decisions
Take a moment to reflect on a decision you’re currently grappling with. Are some options clearly “green” while others are “yellow” or “red”? Trust God to guide you towards the path He has chosen for you, and have faith that He will open the right doors at the right time.
