Trusting in God’s Call
When fear creeps in, where do you turn? For many of us, it’s natural to doubt our abilities and question God’s plan. But as Psalm 56:3 reminds us, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” This trust is essential when it comes to answering God’s call on our lives.
The Size of the Task vs. the Size of God
Dr. David Jeremiah, in his book “What Are You Afraid Of?”, highlights a crucial perspective shift we need to make. God never abandons us, so when we’re hesitant to follow His lead, it’s often because we’re focusing on the enormity of the task rather than the power of God. This realization can be a game-changer.
Discovering God’s Call
So, how do we know what God is calling us to do? Here are seven key indicators:
Prioritizing God’s Will
With countless demands on our time, it’s easy to get sidetracked. While there are many good things we can devote ourselves to, the most important ones are those that align with God’s purposes. When we choose to step out in faith, our schedules won’t magically clear up, but God will provide what we need to fulfill His plans.
God’s Provision
Rather than relying on our own strength, God will supply us with wisdom, energy, resources, and strength. Most importantly, He will give us Himself – and that’s all we need. As we share this gift with others, their lives will be transformed, and God will receive the glory.
A Life of Purpose
When we focus on God’s call, the distractions that once seemed so important fade into the background. We begin to see that it’s not about us, but about allowing God to work through us. As John Grant, a former Florida State Senator and practicing attorney, so eloquently puts it, “And when lives around you are transformed, all the stuff you were busy with doesn’t seem as important anymore. And God is glorified because it’ll be clear to everyone that it’s Him doing the work!”
