Savoring God’s Goodness: A Journey of Intimacy and Faith

Experiencing the Goodness of God

The psalmist’s invitation in Psalm 34:8 is both simple and profound: “Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.” This verse speaks to the heart of our faith, reminding us that some aspects of our relationship with God can only be truly understood by experiencing them firsthand.

Beyond Words

There are moments in our spiritual journey when words fail us. We can’t adequately describe the sense of peace, joy, or comfort that comes from knowing God. It’s as if we need to taste and see His goodness for ourselves, rather than relying solely on the testimony of others.

A Call to Intimacy

The psalmist’s words are an invitation to intimacy with God. They encourage us to lean on His grace, to take refuge in His care, and to sample His goodness. As we do, we’ll discover that we’re blessed to have Him near, protecting us from life’s dangers and calming our deepest fears.

A Heartfelt Prayer

Dear Father, help me to know You better. Open my heart, Lord, so that I may entrust myself more fully to Your care. Open my eyes to see Your grace, not so that I might be impressed, but so that I might share in it. Thank You for Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Deepening Our Faith

As we seek to deepen our faith, may we remember the importance of experiencing God’s goodness for ourselves. May we lean on His grace, take refuge in His care, and taste His goodness in our daily lives. And may we, like the psalmist, come to know the blessing of having God near.
