The Mirrored Image of God
Jesus, the embodiment of God’s nature, shines brightly as the perfect reflection of the divine. As we gaze upon Him, we’re met with a profound realization: we were created to be like Him, and our insufficiencies are matched by His overflowing sufficiency.
Embracing the Pattern of Mercy
As we surrender to Christ’s transformative power, mercy begins to radiate from our lives, touching the world around us. This is the essence of revival – men and women of all ages conformed to Jesus’ likeness. The journey begins the moment we say yes to His transformative call, and it spreads as Christ is revealed through us.
The Attitude of Mercy: A First Step
However, embracing Christ’s merciful attitude is only the beginning of our spiritual growth. The process of conforming to Christ compels us toward deeper degrees of transformation, just as Jesus learned obedience through suffering.
The Gift of Woundedness
In this journey, Christ bestows upon us the gift of woundedness – an opportunity to release God’s redemptive power. As we stand in intercession or service, Christ gives us the gift of woundedness, allowing us to crown love with vulnerability. The steadfast prayer of the wounded intercessor holds immense sway over the heart of God.
The Inevitability of Wounding
We cannot become Christlike without being wounded. God allows us to be wounded to expose our human limitations and reveal what we lack of His nature. Many Christians fall short of Christ’s stature because they’ve been hurt by others, leaving them discouraged and unwilling to serve or lead again.
Forgiveness: The Path to Perfection
To be struck or rejected in the administration of our service can become a great offense, especially when we’re expecting a reward for our good efforts. Yet, wounding is inevitable if we’re following Christ. Jesus was marred and wounded, and if we’re sincere in our pursuit of His nature, we will suffer as well. Forgiveness is the key to perfecting love; otherwise, we’ll enter a spiritual time warp, trapped in the memory of our wounding.
Breaking Free from Hurtful Memories
Apart from God, the wounding inflicted by life is incurable. Only Christ in us can survive. We must beware, lest we allow hurtful memories to infect every aspect of our existence. By embracing forgiveness, we break free from the shackles of woundedness, allowing Christ to reign supreme in our lives.
