Pleasing Others: A Path to True Joy

The Simple Joy of Pleasing Others

As I watched my grandson’s face light up with excitement, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of warmth in my heart. A simple pair of superhero pajamas had brought him so much joy, and it reminded me of the power of small acts of kindness.

Knowing What Brings Happiness

Sometimes, it’s easy to know what makes someone happy. My grandson’s love for superheroes was no secret, and it made choosing a birthday gift a breeze. But in other cases, it can be more complicated. That’s why it’s so valuable when people share what brings them pleasure.

A Greater Pleasure

As wonderful as it was to see my grandson’s delight, I know that pleasing God is an even greater joy. In His Word, God clearly states what brings Him pleasure: seeing His people reflect His character through kindness, justice, and righteousness towards others. When we strive to live a life that mirrors God’s Spirit, we bring Him joy and fulfill the command to “do it all for the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).

A Life that Points to God

As we live a life that honors God, we become a beacon of hope to those around us. Our actions point people to the true source of all their deep longings, and we get to witness the transformation that occurs when they encounter God’s loving kindness, justice, and righteousness.

A Heartfelt Prayer

Father in Heaven, I long to know You deeply and to reflect Your kindness, justice, and righteousness to the world around me. May my life be a testament to Your love, and may more and more people find their deep longings met in You. Amen.
