Finding Strength in God’s Word
In times of uncertainty, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and discouraged. But as Romans 15:4 reminds us, God’s Word is a source of hope and encouragement, written to teach us and help us endure.
Resisting Oppression
One of the enemy’s tactics is to wear us down, to make us feel like we’re under siege from all sides (Daniel 7:25). But we don’t have to give in to debilitating discouragement. We can resist oppression in the name of the Ancient of Days.
God’s Promise of Victory
In 2 Chronicles 20:15 and 17, God says, “Do not be afraid or discouraged… For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” We have a choice: we can let fear and discouragement consume us, or we can stand firm in God’s promise of victory. He is our hope and our deliverance in the battle.
Anointed with Grace
God has a plan for our welfare, to give us a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). We are anointed with grace to stand with hope, encouragement, and positive assurance of seeing His goodness at work in our lives. We can run to the joy of the Lord, our strength, and be blessed with endurance and encouragement as we stand in the One who fights our battles for us.
Devotion and Trust
When we’re discouraged and not at peace, we can look to our Father in heaven in devotion and trust. His presence never leaves nor forsakes us (Deuteronomy 31:8). The name of the Lord is a strong tower where we can run and be safe (Proverbs 18:10).
Remembering God’s Intervention
We’ve all experienced times when God has shown Himself strong in our lives. Let’s remember those moments and be blessed by the One who gives endurance and encouragement. He will continue to reveal Himself to us, stilling the storms and inviting us to come to Him.
Keeping Our Eyes Fixed on Jesus
Like Peter, we can step out of the boat onto the wind-driven waters, but we must keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. If we look at the waves, we’ll sink. But with our eyes on Jesus, we’ll be steadfast and immovable, standing in the rule and dominion of the Prince of peace.
Blessed in God’s Faithfulness
Let’s be blessed in God’s great faithfulness to us, which is new every morning (Lamentations 3:23). Let’s be blessed in the name of the One who bids us come to Him. As we surrender to the Lord, we can fully trust in His eternal love and guidance.
