Finding Strength in Uncertain Times
In the midst of life’s turmoil, we often find ourselves searching for a beacon of hope. When the well of our resources runs dry, we’re reminded that Jesus is the source of living water that quenches our deepest thirst (John 4). When the storms of life rage on, we’re comforted by the knowledge that Jesus is the Lord who calms the turbulent seas (Matthew 14).
The Rock That Holds Us Steady
In the face of overwhelming floods, we’re drawn to the unshakeable foundation of Jesus, the rock on which we can build our lives (Matthew 7). When the very foundations of our existence begin to shiver, we’re reassured by the promise that Jesus is the cornerstone that will never move (Matthew 21).
Healing and Redemption
When sickness and disease beset us, we find solace in the fact that Jesus is our healer, the one who brings restoration and wholeness (Matthew 4). And when the weight of our sin threatens to crush us, we’re reminded that Jesus is our redeemer, the one who pays the debt we cannot pay (Galatians 3).
A Voice in the Dark
In times of grief and loss, we hear the gentle voice of Jesus calling out to us, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?” (John 21). And when doubt and uncertainty assail us, we’re invited to touch the nail-scarred palm of Jesus, a tangible reminder of his love and presence (John 20).
Formed in the Fire
Jesus taught in the midst of uncertainty because he knew that true disciples are not made in the classroom, but in the crucible of life. It’s in the dark moments, when we’re forced to confront our own limitations and cry out, “I can’t, but God can,” that we’re shaped and molded into the image of God.
Transformed by Circumstance
If we allow it, our circumstances can drive us deeper into the heart of God, transforming us from the inside out. As we believe and come to know the Holy One of God (John 6:69), we’re changed forever, emerging from the fire as new creations, strong and steadfast in our faith.
