Finding Peace Amidst the Whirlwind of Uncertainty
In today’s world, it’s easy to get caught up in the vortex of ambient stress. This type of stress swirls around us, seemingly without a clear cause or solution. It’s the uncertainty that permeates every aspect of our lives, leaving us feeling powerless and lost.
The Difference Between Ambient Stress and Controllable Stress
While there are certainly stresses in life that we can take hold of and manage, ambient stress is a different beast altogether. It’s the stress that lies beyond our control, leaving us feeling helpless and uncertain. And when this type of stress takes hold, it can be overwhelming.
When Uncertainty Becomes Normal
As ambient stress swirls around us, uncertainty becomes our new normal. We may try to find ways to cope, but often, our efforts fall short. It’s during these times that we must remind ourselves that there is hope beyond our own strength.
Reaching Out for Peace
In the midst of uncertainty, there is a place where we can find peace for our souls. Even before the downward pull of anxiety and fear takes hold, we can reach out and meet the day in God’s strength. As the Lord reminds us, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT)
The Anchor for Our Souls
Our weak places, those areas where we feel vulnerable and uncertain, can be the very entry point of the Lord’s power. He is the anchor for our souls, holding us securely in ways that our own strength never could. And when we offer our worries and fears to Him, we can experience His strength in ways that transcend our own abilities.
A Prayer for Strength
Lord, thank you that You are the Source of my strength. I don’t want to wait for the ambient stress to overwhelm me today. I am reaching out in faith for the anchor of Jesus. I offer my weak places of worry to You right now. Thank you that Your strength can be the power I need beyond myself. When I feel that downward pull today, even before I feel it, help me to reach for Your hand of strength. I pray this with thanksgiving in Jesus’ name, amen.
