The Unshakeable Hope of the Gospel
In a world filled with uncertainty, one thing remains constant: the hope of the gospel. This hope is not a wish or a positive thought, but a certainty rooted in the resurrection of Christ and His promise to return. It’s a reality that has been testified to by countless witnesses throughout history and is based on the unwavering character of God.
A Hope Unlike Any Other
When we say “I hope so,” it’s often because we’re uncertain about the outcome. But the hope that comes from Jesus is different. It’s a hope that is grounded in historical fact, biblical promises, and the assurance of the Holy Spirit. It’s a hope that is unshakeable, even in the midst of life’s storms.
The Anchor of Our Souls
As Edward Mote so eloquently put it:
“When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.”
The Source of Our Hope
So, what is the source of this unshakeable hope? It’s Jesus, our Lord and Savior. He is our hope of eternal life, our home in heaven, and His return to reign as Lord of all. It’s a hope that is uniquely tied to His resurrection and His promise to come again.
A Hope that Sustains Us
In a world that can sometimes seem hopeless, this hope sustains us. It’s a reminder that no matter what challenges we face, God is always with us. He is our rock, our refuge, and our hope. And when all around us seems to be giving way, He is the one who holds us fast.
