Intimacy with God: A Constant Connection

Imagine being so closely connected to God that it’s impossible to distinguish where you end and He begins. This is the kind of intimacy God desires with us, as described in the Bible. Just like a branch is an extension of the vine, we are meant to be constantly drawing nourishment from our relationship with Him.

A Permanent Presence

In the Old Testament, the temple was a symbol of God’s presence among His people. But God didn’t just visit the temple occasionally; He was a permanent resident, always available to those who sought Him. This is still true today. As the apostle Paul wrote, “Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God” (1 Corinthians 6:19, TEV).

Never Away from God

What a reassuring thought! We are never away from God, no matter where we are or what we’re doing. He is always with us, guiding us, and providing for us. This constant connection is the source of our strength, our hope, and our joy.

A Relationship of Dependence

This intimate relationship with God is not just a feeling or a theory; it’s a reality that can be experienced every day. As Andrew Murray wrote, “Absolute dependence on God is the only way to true freedom and happiness.” When we acknowledge our dependence on God and surrender to His will, we open ourselves up to a life of purpose, peace, and fulfillment.

Tapping into the Source

So how can we tap into this constant connection with God? By recognizing that He is always with us, always available, and always willing to guide us. As Idelette McVicker wrote, “God is not just a distant provider; He is a present and personal Father who wants to be involved in every area of our lives.” By seeking Him, listening to Him, and trusting Him, we can experience the incredible good news of God’s constant presence in our lives.
