The Unwavering Love of God
Do you struggle to accept the unconditional love of God? You’re not alone. Many people find it difficult to believe that the Lord could love them without condition, and it’s often because we have a hard time loving others without expectation of something in return.
Conditional Love: A Barrier to Acceptance
We may say “I love you” to those around us, but all too often, we’re mentally calculating whether they’ve met our standards. We justify withholding love from certain individuals because their behavior upsets or annoys us. This mindset leads us to assume that God operates on a similar level, placing restrictions on His love. But nothing could be further from the truth.
The Lie of Poor Self-Image
Another reason we struggle to accept God’s love is poor self-image. We consider ourselves unworthy, refusing to accept His goodness and mercy. However, our worthiness is not the basis for His love. We come to Him based on His grace, and our position is secure in Christ. To diminish ourselves as “beneath His grace” is to trample on His loving gift.
Revealing the Truth
God desires a deep, personal relationship with each of us. If you feel unloved or struggle to accept yourself, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth of God’s love for you. Allow this truth to sink deep into your heart, and you’ll discover a completely different story about your value as an individual.
Embracing Unconditional Love
Remember, God’s love is not based on our actions or worthiness. It’s a free gift, offered to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. As we accept this love, we’re empowered to love others without condition, reflecting the character of our heavenly Father. By embracing God’s unwavering love, we can experience the freedom and joy that comes from knowing our true value in His eyes.
