It seems like you’re a Christian introvert who’s struggling to connect with your church community. You feel uncomfortable on Sundays, and it’s hard for you to reach out to others. However, you want to grow in unity with the people around you.
Firstly, recognize that being an introvert is okay, and it doesn’t exempt you from learning to reach out to others. In fact, the Bible encourages us to “greet the friends, each by name” (3 John 15), acknowledging their worth in the sight of the Lord.
Here are a few tips that might help:
- Start small: Begin by saying hello to someone new each Sunday. You can ask God to help you take this small step.
- Learn people’s names: As you get to know people, learn their names and greet them personally. This helps to build connections and acknowledges their worth.
- Find quiet ways to serve: As an introvert, you might prefer quieter ways to serve, such as wiping tables, rocking babies, or cleaning bathrooms. These tasks are just as valuable as more outgoing roles.
- Pray for others: Praying for others is a powerful way to connect with them, even if you don’t feel comfortable talking to them in person. Ask God to help you pray for someone new each week.
- Trust God to make connections: As you take small steps to reach out to others, trust God to make connections and build relationships. He can help you overcome your discomfort and build meaningful friendships.
Remember, being invested in the church as an introvert doesn’t require grand gestures. Small steps, taken in faith, can lead to significant growth and connection with others.
