The Master Creator’s Hand

A simple moment with a two-and-a-half-year-old granddaughter revealed a profound truth. While playing with crayons and paper, she asked for a “lady pen,” expecting it to magically draw a lady for her. We know that pens can’t create on their own, but our hands guide them to produce something beautiful.

This incident sparked reflection on how often we, as adults, rely on things like work, ministry, relationships, or material possessions to fulfill the deep longings in our hearts and souls. We mistakenly believe these things can satisfy our inner hunger, but they cannot. Only God can fill this void.

A Pencil in God’s Hand

Mother Teresa once said, “I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world.” What a powerful analogy! If we surrender to God’s control, He can create something breathtakingly beautiful out of our lives, which will then overflow to others.

As we yield to His guidance, God molds us into something pleasing and lovely. He promises that we won’t be disappointed. Our prayer should be: “Lord, help us continually realize that You alone can satisfy the deepest longings in our hearts. You can make something beautiful out of our lives.”

True Fulfillment

In Psalm 107:9, we read, “For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.” This is a promise we can hold onto. When we become pencils in God’s hand, He creates a masterpiece out of our lives. Let us remember that true satisfaction and fulfillment come only from God, and let us pray for the wisdom to yield to His loving control.

May we, like Mother Teresa, become instruments in God’s hand, allowing Him to send a love letter to the world through our lives. As we do, we’ll discover that true beauty and satisfaction can only be found in Him.
