Empowering Global Ministry with God’s Word
A year ago, a passionate plea went out to friends and supporters around the world to help meet a tremendous need. The goal was to provide 250,000 ESV Global Study Bibles to strategic Christian leaders in Africa, India, and Asia, where the need is greatest. Today, we rejoice in the Lord’s provision and the overwhelming response to this initiative.
Astonishing Results
Thousands of people from over 30 countries contributed more than $1 million to underwrite the entire cost of the Global Study Bible project. This included free digital distribution online and via mobile devices worldwide. We are thrilled to report that 250,000 Global Study Bibles have been printed and are shipping to ministry partners in over 60 countries.
Transforming Lives
Our team recently returned from India, where they worked with local ministries to distribute thousands of Global Study Bibles. The response was deeply moving, with recipients expressing enormous gratitude. A 19-year-old Bible college student, who had long wanted a study Bible, received his free copy and exclaimed, “How great our God is—he provided this Global Study Bible!” Many others have come to know Christ, and small groups are being formed.
The Need Continues
Despite the success of this initiative, there remains a significant need for Global Study Bibles in many parts of the world. Christian leaders on the front lines of global ministry often lack even the most basic resources, including Bibles. We are seeking to raise $400,000 by December 31, 2015, to provide an additional 100,000 free Global Study Bibles to these leaders.
