Justified by Faith: Understanding God’s Law and Redemption

Understanding Justification and God’s Law

The concept of justification is central to the Christian faith, and it’s essential to understand its relationship with God’s law. In Galatians 2:16, Paul writes, “Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.”

What is Justification?

Justification means being “counted righteous” or “declared righteous” by God. If people were sinless and perfectly obeyed all of God’s perfect moral standards, they could be justified on the basis of their own merits. However, this is impossible for anyone to do, as Paul explains in Romans 1-2.
