Empowering Teens to Share the Gospel
As I sat with my friend McKenzie in a coffee shop, I felt a sense of urgency to share the gospel with her. But despite my best intentions, the words got stuck in my throat. I left the coffee shop feeling discouraged and defeated. However, that experience motivated me to find ways to overcome my fears and share the gospel with others.
Tip 1: Know the Gospel Inside Out
Before teens can share the gospel, they need to know it themselves. It’s essential to help them understand the basics of Christianity and practice articulating their faith. Encourage them to read the Bible, attend church, and engage in discussions about their beliefs.
Tip 2: Weave the Gospel into Everyday Conversations
Teens are known for their love of talking, so teach them how to bring the gospel into their everyday conversations. Whether it’s discussing the latest movie or sharing a personal experience, encourage them to look for opportunities to share their faith.
Tip 3: Leverage Technology for Evangelism
Technology can be a powerful tool for evangelism. Encourage teens to use social media to share their faith, whether it’s posting a Scripture passage, a spiritual article, or a question about Christianity.
Tip 4: Build Relationships with Outsiders
Forming cliques can be a temptation for teens, but it’s essential to encourage them to build relationships with people outside their comfort zone. This includes the outcast, lonely, and “uncool” – those who may be most receptive to the gospel.
Tip 5: Empower Teens through Prayer
Prayer is essential for empowering teens to share the gospel. Encourage them to pray for courage, wisdom, and opportunities to share their faith. Remind them that God is the one who changes hearts, not them.
Tip 6: Don’t Waste Social Gatherings
Social gatherings like parties or sporting events can be great opportunities for evangelism. Encourage teens to go beyond superficial conversations and share their faith with others.
Tip 7: Remember that Evangelism is a Command
All Christians, including teens, are commanded to share the gospel. Remind them that evangelism is not just for those with a special “gift” but is a responsibility for all believers.
By equipping teens with these tips, we can empower them to share the gospel with confidence and passion. Let’s watch God work through this generation to spread the good news of Jesus Christ!
