Pursuing Peace in a World of Conflict
As followers of Jesus, we are called to be peacemakers in a world filled with conflict. But how do we achieve this when disagreements and tensions arise? In Colossians 3:12-14, the apostle Paul provides us with eight godly attitudes that are foundational to biblical peacemaking.
Understanding Our Identity in Christ
Before we can pursue peace, we must understand our identity in Christ. We are “God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved” (Colossians 3:12). This knowledge should humble us and encourage us to live out our new life in Christ.
Eight Godly Attitudes for Peacemaking
- Compassion: We are called to show compassion to those who are suffering, just as God has shown compassion to us.
- Kindness: We are to show kindness to others, even when they don’t deserve it, just as God has shown kindness to us.
