Daily Worship Liturgy A structured guide for personal or family worship, focusing on glorifying God and enjoying Him forever.

A Daily Liturgy for Worship

As we begin each day, we are reminded of our purpose: to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. A daily liturgy helps us focus on this goal, providing structure for our personal or family worship.

Hearing God’s Call to Worship

We start by hearing God’s call to worship through His word. In Psalm 147:1, we read, “Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting.” We respond with a song of praise, acknowledging God’s blessings and majesty.

Responding with Praise

We sing the Doxology, a classic expression of praise: “Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him all creatures here below; Praise him above you heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.”

Hearing God’s Law

Next, we hear God’s law as His will for our lives. Jesus teaches us to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-40).

Confessing Our Sins

We confess our sins to God, using the words of the Book of Common Prayer: “Almighty God, unto whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden—cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, so that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.”

Receiving Comfort

We receive comfort from God’s words in Matthew 11:28-30: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Confessing Our Faith

We confess what we believe about the Christian faith, using the Apostles’ Creed: “I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth… I believe in Jesus Christ, his only-begotten Son, our Lord… I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.”

Praying for Enlightenment

As we read God’s word, we ask for enlightenment: “Almighty God, and most merciful Father, we humbly submit ourselves, and fall down before your Majesty, asking you from the bottom of our hearts, that this seed of your Word now sown among us, may take such deep root, that neither the burning heat of persecution cause it to wither, nor the thorny cares of this life choke it. But that, as seed sown in good ground, it may bring forth thirty, sixty, or a hundredfold, as your heavenly wisdom has appointed. Amen.”

Reading God’s Word

We read a portion of God’s word, such as Acts 1, which tells us of the promise of the Holy Spirit and the ascension of Jesus.

Making Our Requests

As we make our requests to God, we pray: “Your glorious Majesty surround me, the blessed Trinity protect me, and the eternal Godhead preserve me… May the grace of God the Father lead me, the wisdom of God the Son be my consolation, and the power of the Holy Spirit enlighten me.”

Closing with the Lord’s Prayer

Finally, we close with the words that Jesus taught us to pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name; your kingdom come; your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven… For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.”
