**A Love That Transcends**
Imagine being the sole focus of someone’s affection, their every thought and desire centered on you. This is the kind of love God has for us, as described in 2 Corinthians 11:2-3. He is jealous for us, longing to present us as a pure and devoted bride to His Son, Jesus. Just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, God fears that our minds may be led astray from our sincere devotion to Christ.
**The Devotion of a Lover**
When we are deeply in love, we crave every moment with our beloved. We hang on their every word, and our hearts beat solely for them. This is the kind of devotion God desires from us. As Mary chose to sit at Jesus’ feet, we too can choose to prioritize our relationship with Him. In a world filled with distractions, we can focus on the one thing that truly matters: fellowship with Jesus.
**A Heart After God’s Own Heart**
David, a man after God’s own heart, understood the value of prioritizing his relationship with God. In Psalm 27:4, he declares, “One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.” This was his greatest desire: to be in God’s presence, drinking in His beauty and holiness.
**The Power of Devotion**
When we are fully devoted to Jesus, we become unstoppable. Like Peter and John, who amazed the Jewish ruling body with their courage and boldness, we too can make a profound impact. Our credential is not our education or status, but our dedication to Jesus. As we live with no other agenda than making His name famous, we will be blessed with freshness, power, and a purity that inspires others.
**A Life of Single-Minded Devotion**
Paul, towards the end of his life, boiled his existence down to its essence: “One thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13-14). His single-minded devotion to Jesus empowered him to pour out his life as a drink offering. May we too be blessed with eyes only for the prize: Jesus Himself and His pleasure.
