Imagine having a direct line to the divine, where you could seek guidance on life’s most pressing questions. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have God’s wisdom at your fingertips? As I reflect on my own journey, I’ve come to realize that if I could dial up God for advice, the response would always boil down to a simple yet profound message.
The Bible is filled with stories of people seeking direction from God, from the intricate laws of the Old Testament to the liberating teachings of the New. And yet, amidst the complexity, a clear theme emerges: love. Specifically, loving God with every fiber of our being and loving others as ourselves.
Think about it. When faced with a major decision, wouldn’t God’s counsel be to prioritize love? To choose the path that honors Him and blesses those around us? When navigating difficult relationships, wouldn’t His advice be to love unconditionally, just as He loves us? And when life throws us curveballs, wouldn’t His response be to respond with love, rather than fear or anger?
It’s a revolutionary idea, really. What if we approached every aspect of life with these two guiding principles? What if we made decisions, built relationships, and responded to challenges with love as our north star?
As Mark 12:31 reminds us, “There is no other commandment greater than these.” Love isn’t just a feeling; it’s a choice. And when we choose to love, we align ourselves with God’s heart and purposes.
So, the next time you’re seeking guidance, remember: the answer is love. Love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. Love others as yourself. It’s the thread that weaves through every story, every commandment, and every promise in the Bible. And it’s the answer that would echo through the phone lines if God were to respond to our calls for guidance.
