**Finding Freedom Through Forgiveness**

**Breaking Free from the Chains of Unforgiveness**

As I reflect on my own journey, I’m reminded of the transformative power of forgiveness. It’s a value that’s deeply rooted in my faith, and one that has brought me immense peace and freedom.

In Colossians 3:12-13, we’re reminded to “put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another.” But what happens when we choose not to forgive? When we withhold forgiveness, we inadvertently create a stumbling block in our relationship with God and others. Unforgiveness becomes a weight that holds us back, preventing us from moving forward and embracing the plans God has for us.

Forgiveness isn’t about changing the person who wronged us; it’s about a change within ourselves. When we choose to forgive, we’re not doing it for the other person’s sake, but for our own. We’re releasing the bondage that’s holding us captive, and allowing God to heal our wounds.

I’ve learned that forgiveness is a process, and it’s not always easy. But when we surrender our hurt and anger to God, He comes in with His gentle touch, bringing healing and restoration to our lives. As we let go of the past, we begin to experience a sense of peace and freedom that’s hard to describe.

Jesus taught us to forgive without limits, saying “up to seventy times seven” (Matthew 18:21-22). This isn’t a mathematical formula, but a reminder that forgiveness is a continuous process. It’s a choice we make daily, and one that brings us closer to God’s heart.

So, I ask you: is unforgiveness holding you back? Are you stuck in the past, reliving the pain and hurt? Remember, God wants to set you free. He desires to bring healing and wholeness to your life. Will you take the first step towards forgiveness today, and experience the peace and freedom that comes with it?
