A Parent’s Heartfelt Prayer
As I lift my children up to You, Heavenly Father, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the precious gift of their salvation. You have chosen them to be Yours, and I am humbled by the riches and inheritance You have lavished upon them.
Guiding Their Steps
I pray that their legs will walk in step with Jesus, day by day, as their constant companion. May they follow Your leading, avoiding paths that would lead them astray. Grant them strength to persevere when they feel weak, and courage to press on when the road ahead seems uncertain.
Rooted in Faith
Plant their feet firmly on the immovable rock of Jesus, and whisper words of encouragement in their ears when storms rage or the world’s attractions try to lure them away. May they stand firm, unwavering in their commitment to You.
Hands of Service
May their arms be strong and willing to do Your work. Direct them to use their gifts and talents for eternity, not just for fleeting earthly gain. May their hands often fold in prayer, and may they become mighty in prayer, praying after Your own heart.
A Heart of Wisdom
Grant them patience to wait on You, Lord, that You may renew their spirits and they may soar on eagle’s wings. May their will be as strong as iron in clinging to what is good and resisting evil, yet pliable as spun silk when You convict them of sin.
Character Shaped by God
I pray that their character will be strong and godly, shaped by godly men and women who will mold, shape, and weave their beliefs and views of You. May their conscience be clear, and may they quickly acknowledge their wrongs and confess their sin.
Guarding Their Heart
Protect their heart, keeping it soft to show compassion, firm when “tough love” is required, and always holy. By Your power, protect their bodies, keeping them well and safe, and healing them when they are sick or injured.
Mind and Spirit
May their minds be full of knowledge and wisdom regarding the things of Christ, and may they be ignorant of the things of sin. Grant them Your wisdom and discernment to evaluate what they see, and filter what they will see through holy filters.
Speaking Words of Life
May their mouths be filled with words of praise and prayer, and may they bring honor and glory to You. Curb them from speaking rashly or without thought, that they may reflect Your glory and the radiance of the hope that is alive within them.
A Life of Stewardship
Sanctify their pocketbooks, and teach them to be good stewards of what You give them. Teach them the principles of Your economy, the way to manage and use the things that You lend them. May they acknowledge that everything is Yours, and because of that, they need not worry or fear loss.
Abiding in Righteousness
I pray that they will abide in righteousness and live worthy of the One who purchased their lives from destruction and eternal death. Show them that life is in Christ alone, that there is no other source of life, joy, light, peace, comfort, love, or truth that can endure forever, and no other is pure or holy but You.
In Your Hands, Father
I place all these things in Your hands, dear Father, in the name of the One who is able to do all things, beyond anything we ask or imagine, to whom is all glory, honor, and praise. Amen.
