Embracing the Power of Humility
Recognizing Our True Identity
Humility is not about belittling ourselves or feeling unworthy. Rather, it’s about recognizing who God has made us to be and using that recognition to serve and redeem others. When we live in humility, we’re not just practicing the golden rule; we’re going above and beyond, treating others with kindness and compassion that surpasses how we would treat ourselves.
The Ultimate Example
Jesus, the worthy and glorious Son of God, chose to treat others better than himself. He sacrificially gave himself to redeem humanity, setting a high standard for us to follow. This selfless act is not a sign of weakness, but rather a demonstration of ultimate glory.
A Prayer for Empowerment
Almighty God, I thank you for adopting me as your child, making me holy and precious in your eyes. Help me to see myself through your lens, and empower me to serve others in ways that reveal your glory. May I be a reflection of your love and kindness, treating others with the same humility and selflessness that Jesus exemplified. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Living a Life of Humility
Embracing humility is not for the faint of heart. It requires courage, perseverance, and a willingness to put others before ourselves. But the reward is well worth the effort. As we humble ourselves, we open ourselves up to receive the same type of reward that the faithful will receive (Matthew 20:1-16).
Discovering Our True Purpose
Humility is not about seeking recognition or praise; it’s about recognizing our true purpose in life – to serve and glorify God. When we live with humility, we’re not seeking to elevate ourselves, but rather to lift up others and point them to the glory of God.
